Lake Street Church and Second Baptist Church recently issued a declaration of unity to destroy racism and promote healing in a painfully divided world. We have identified ourselves as sister churches and seek a relationship that makes us better, stronger, wiser, braver and closer to God. To celebrate our sisterhood and unity against racism we are holding joint worship services and a unity march next Sunday, September 30th.
• 9:00 AM Unity Service at Second Baptist Church (at 1717 Benson Avenue in Evanston) with Rev. Bob Thompson, Minister Emeritus of Lake Street Church, preaching.
• 10:00 AM Unity March from Second Baptist Church, down Benson, left on Church, right on Chicago, to Lake Street Church. The choirs and the children will lead the way.
• 10:30 AM Unity Service at Lake Street Church with Rev. Michael Nabors of Second Baptist Church preaching.
• 12:00 PM Unity Celebration at Raymond Park, a time to fellowship and get to know each other a little better.
Testimonials from SBC & LSC members will be shared offering hope, unity and combined strength for changing racial injustice in Evanston.
We invite all Lake Street Church members and friends to participate in this exciting event. It is an important step toward creating a Beloved Community in Evanston.
