A new book, Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life by Karen Armstrong, begins August 7.  It is believed that while compassion is intrinsic in all humans, each of us nees to work diligently to cultivate and expand our capacity for compassion.  The twelve steps Karen Armstrong suggests begin with "Learn About Compassion" and closes with "Love Your Enemies.  She suggests concrete ways of enhancing our compassion and putting it into action in our everyday lives.
