How We Worship

Sunday morning worship services are central to our church life. They usually include congregational singing, instrumental and choral music, prayer, meditation, Bible readings, a special message for children, and a sermon. Sermons present challenging and practical messages for one's wholeness and spiritual growth. They usually relate such timeless themes as faith, love, and compassion to contemporary situations. Communion is generally served on the first Sunday of each month. All are invited to participate, regardless of individual beliefs.

Music is vital to every worship service. A wide variety of choral music from various religious traditions is presented weekly by the Chancel Choir. As part of the church's commitment to the music experience, four professional singers support the choir as section leaders. This choir is open to anyone in the congregation who likes to sing. A Men's Choir and a Women's Choir also perform occasionally.

During the summer, when the choirs are on vacation, soloists or musical ensembles are featured. At each of the four seasons of the year, an interpretive dance ensemble adds a unique dimension to the service. Children offer their musical talents to worshipers, too. Periodically throughout the year, the Children's Chorale sings or the Crystal Ringers play their tone chimes.
